Spatial Growth Model
THEME:
Spatial Growth Model
Purpose of the Spatial Model is to:- 1. Enhance Regional and Municipal Planning Alignment Our goal is to refine the integration between extensive regional planning initiatives, such as the Strategic Corridor Development Plans for N3 and N2, and eThekwini’s core municipal strategies including the Spatial Development Framework (SDF), Integrated Development Plan (IDP), and various infrastructure projects. 2. Streamline eThekwini’s Departmental Coordination By developing a spatial growth model, we aim to standardize departmental planning across eThekwini. This tool serves as a foundational benchmark for estimating and coordinating land use, transportation, and infrastructure development, ensuring a cohesive development approach. 3. Interactive Tool for Informed Decision Making We are providing a dynamic interactive tool that enables the overlay and examination of spatial development and infrastructure data across the municipality’s planning regions and development corridors. This will facilitate more informed and strategic planning decisions. 4. Evolving Tool for Dynamic Data Integration The spatial model is designed to be a living tool, continuously updated as more precise and detailed data becomes available, ensuring that it remains an effective resource for current and future planning needs.
